PRESS: Tele2’s MVNO revenue seen to triple to 2.5 bln rbl in 2018

MOSCOW, Feb 4 (PRIME) -- Revenue from development of mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) of Russian mobile operator T2 RTK Holding tripled to 2-2.5 billion rubles in 2018, and the number of MVNO subscribers reached 1.7 million, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday.

State-controlled Rostelecom, which owns a half of the operator, accumulated a subscriber base of its T2 RTK Holding-run MVNO of more than 1 million people alone.

T2 RTK Holding, which works under the Tele2 brand, does not disclose absolute data on revenue, and the figure of 2–2.5 billion rubles was given by AC&M Consulting partner Anton Pogrebinsky, and a source close to Tele2 agreed with the estimate.

Pogrebinsky said that although MVNO had a small part in T2 RTK Holding’s revenue, which was at 37.3 billion rubles in July–September 2018, the virtual segment stays one of the growing ones among general stagnation of the mobile market, whose further rise will depend on search for new niches. The banking sector, for example, has a huge potential, the analyst said.

Rostelecom accounts for two thirds of T2 RTK Holding’s MVNO clients, and some 10% are represented by the banking sector, TMT Consulting General Director Konstantin Ankilov said.

As of the end of 2018, T2 RTK Holding had 18 MVNOs on its network, including those of Sberbank, Tinkoff Bank, Virgin Connect, and others.
